HOME AND SCHOOL

It is not too late to turn in volunteer sheets. We
are still looking for volunteers for activities such
as baking, reading with students, putting together the
Christmas Float, and doing head checks. If you would
like to volunteer and have misplaced the sign-up sheet
you can send a note with your child addressed to the
Home and School with your name and phone number and
the activities you would be interested in. Those who
have volunteered will be contacted soon.

A reminder to parents that PES has access to
Encyclopaedia Britannica Online. To access the
encyclopaedia enter the URL
http://school.eb.com/elementary, then enter the
username "princess" and the password "panthers."
Encyclopedia Britannica Online has current information
at elementary and middle school reading levels.
Aside from the encyclopaedic information, students will
have access to a Pop-Up Student Dictionary with Audio
Pronunciations, a Pop-Up Student Thesaurus and a World
Atlas.

The PES Home and School sends its congratulations to
Mr. Coughlan and Mr. Gray. They were two out of six
teachers chosen nationally for Canadian Family
magazine's Great Teacher Award. If you missed the
magazine or newspaper article they are both on the
bulletin board outside the office. If you would like
to nominate your teacher for the award this year go to
http://www.canadianfamily.ca/contests.

Mr. Gray was also recognized by the Home and School
Association and the Parent School Support Committee in
2005-6 school year as a nominee for the newly created
Minister's Excellence in Teaching Award. This award
was established to recognize New Brunswick teachers
for their contributions to the education of New
Brunswick youth. For the 2006-7 school year Ms. Marr
was recognized with a nomination for her contributions
to the students at PES.
